It is reportedly said that Shah Rukh himself wanted Anurag to direct a movie for him. Given his recent success with Gangs of Wasseypur series (GoW), it seems legit that Anurag is suddenly all in demand. His calibre is known to all, but when King Khan calls in, you know there’s something big in the kitty. Anurag’s Mannat visit seems to confirm the story.
A little twist here is that when GoW released, Salman Khan was not quite impressed with the violence depicted in the movie. The slang language too irked him. But that’s quite ironical given that his film ‘Dabanng’ was also a violent one. So is SRK making good use of this verbal bash? It seems so, as they say in Bollywood - ‘your foe is my friend’. Salman is already basking in glory, thanks to ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ raking more than 150 crores and is still growing strong. His last three films have earned the ‘100 crore club’ tag. On the other hand, Shah Rukh too did reasonably well with his last two ventures, but all because of overseas collections and over exclusive promotions. These films lacked pan-India appeal, which Salman’s films so easily cover up. However critics didn’t differentiate and both the actors came under their scrutiny.
Shah Rukh’s untitled next releases in November. The promotional teasers look good and promising enough. But is Shah Rukh eyeing something bigger with Anurag? Watch out this space for more.
